Yesterday the House of Representatives reauthorized the continued surveillance of the American public without a warrant. This is a gross violation of the 4th amendment to the Constitution;
"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."
What this means in today's world is that the government has no right to collect your text messages, emails, or listen to your phone calls unless they have first obtained a warrant. Just because you call someone outside of the country does not give the government the ability to then listen in on your call. Now if this program had been successful at stopping terrorist acts in this country one could make an argument it's effective, but to date not one attack has been prevented or potential act discovered using the powers of the Patriot Act and USA Freedom Act.
If you want to end the government's unconstitutional collection of your information then I need your support. I believe that every single American citizen is entitled to the full protections of the Constitution at all times and in all places, regardless of race, religion, age, or sex etc. This is what principles over politics means.
